Enhancement: More control over Assets

Reported by etheon | July 24th, 2009 @ 10:20 PM

It would be nice if we could:

  • Sequentially upload multiple JavaScript/CSS files, like with Images
  • Have an onLoad callback on CSS files too (you can check the document.styleSheets.length property and then try to access the stylesheet; when you can it means it's been loaded)
  • Have some sort of facility to check for file uniqueness (i.e.: check for a script-tag with the same URL or some such)
  • A means to automatically namespace based on a set of rules given by the programmer

All in all, the Assets module is nice, but it's too barebones.

This kind of robustness is just outside the scope of this plugin. I encourage you to extend it yourself; to write your own and release it in the upcoming MooTools Forge (This month!). The MooTools library isn't here to add every functionality we can imagine, but rather empower you and others to write the functionality you need.
