Ordered List Sortables in IE

Reported by M Boynes | June 23rd, 2008 @ 06:38 PM | in 2.0 (closed)

In IE (tested on IE6 and IE7), ordered list sortables don't seem to maintain their numbering scheme when dragging across-lists. Instead, the list items are all numbered "1.". Here's an example: http://mattboynes.com/wise/sorta... (drag items from the left column to the right column).

I've looked around for documentation on this and couldn't find any -- so I apologize if this is a duplicate or known issue. I also don't know if this worked in previous versions, as I'm fairly new to the Moo.

Thanks.

    wontfix:

    the numbers in

are automatically added by the browser and since the elements are reordered in the dom, the numbering automatically changes. As a workaround hide the css numbers and add them to your html (server generated or via js)

I apologize; I must not have been clear in my description. In IE, the numbers are not automatically changing. They all revert to "1." once dragged (so I can have an OL with 5 1.'s). They lose their index once they (the LI element themselves) are dragged. Here is a link for a better example:

    http://mattboynes.com/wise/iebug...

To reiterate, you noted that "since the elements are reordered in the dom, the numbering automatically changes." -- the issue is that in IE, they do not automatically change as you'd expect.

In mozilla-based (and webkit-based) browsers, dragging from list1 to list2 adds the next sequential number to the newly added LI element and everything works perfect. In IE, it gets prefixed with "1." (no matter the position dragged to). Moving an existing element, say the second element, its prefix changes from 2. to 1. no matter what position it is dragged to.

Hopefully this is more clear. Thanks.
