Request.send() alters send data

Reported by Christian | July 22nd, 2008 @ 02:59 PM | in 1.3.0 rc2 (closed)

The default behavior of Request.send() converts the data for the server in a URL encoded query string. Also, the method changes the Content-Type of the original request.

Although the idea is generally good, the function should not be so restrictive, because some services can handle propper XML and JSON statements natively, and ignore old school query strings. With mootools 1.2 these services are not accessible.

I propose to have a raw option that allows to deactivate the default behaviour of Request.send(), so the raw data can get passed directly to the server in POST requests. The attached patch will check the raw flag but not for the method.

The idea of the patch is to allow programmers to send data directly to XML/JSON capable services.

    We can add the raw option in 1.3 when we make enhancements to the Request Class.
