Element.clone() events don't workin in Internet Explorer 7

Reported by Scott | July 23rd, 2008 @ 03:11 AM | in 2.0 (closed)

<div id="myAlert" style="display:none;">
	<input type="button" value="Alert" onclick="alert('Hi');"/>
</div>
This should show and alert box when clicked. It works in Firefox, but not Internet Explorer
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
	$('myAlert').clone().setStyle('display','block').inject(document.body);
-->
</script>

    • State changed from “new” to “hold”
    • Tag changed from 1.2release, blocker, defect, element to 1.2release, defect, element
    • Assigned user cleared.

    generally inline events are not not recommended. But I think we should still fix this bug because there might be (legacy) scenarios where you just have these events.
