Daniel Steigerwald

new Element should be forbidden

Reported by Daniel Steigerwald | November 18th, 2008 @ 11:22 PM | in 2.0 (closed)

document.newElement = moo document.createElement

Just because we can have more than one document in page.

    • State changed from “new” to “invalid”

    new Element creates a new Element using currentDocument.newElement.

    I fail to see what's wrong with that.

    I will try to describe problem. I have page, which contains iframes (from same domain). I have to use iframes, not for layout, but for loading and running some templates in own scope. Main business logic runs in TOP window, where I am using mootools also for adding behaviors into inner iframes. For example, various widgets, canvas etc. Widgets are created in top window, but can not be injected in to inner window document. This issue is related to ticket #532. new Element should not be forbidden of course, but would be immense useful to have additional option - document - which will be used to element creation.
