getOffsets returns wrong value when there's no DOCTYPE

Reported by Tihomir | November 20th, 2008 @ 01:19 PM

I have an HTML document which doesn't have a DOCTYPE, i.e. the browser is running in "BackCompat" mode.

I have a problem with wrong calculation of the position of an element (getCoordinates). It turned to be the getOffsets method where the scroll left/top is taken through the this.getDocument().documentElement.

I just patched the code to use document.body when in compatibility mode in IE.

I'm using MooTools v1.2.1.

I'm could not find a ticket for that, so I'm sending it.

    • State changed from “new” to “invalid”
    • Assigned user cleared.
    • Milestone cleared.

We're doing some 'spring cleaning' and clearing / closing tickets at the moment.

I'm going to mark this as invalid due to it's age, and also that I know that getCoordinates and associated methods have had a lot of work done since.

If this is still an issue, please feel free to open a new ticket, using 1.2.4.

Apologies for the delay in reply :D
