native json support in Firefox 3.1

Reported by tbela99 | February 27th, 2009 @ 09:57 AM | in 2.0 (closed)

Hi all,

I saw here ( )

there is a built-in support for json in Firefox, the object JSON which collide with the one used in mootools.

I hope, you'll take advantage of that.

  • cheers.

Can this be the reason why the onComplete event of my Request.JSON calls are not been triggered on firefox nightly builds?

steps to reproduce: 1- open 2- click the "load JSON Data" link

expected behavior: a table with pictures loads, just like it does on Safari

actual behavior: nothing happens, even though the request was completed sucessfully (you can check the response on firebug)

The object does not collide as it is only going to be overwritten by MooTools at the moment. Please use the MooTools methods JSON.encode and JSON.decode instead of parse and stringify and you will be safe. MooTools will use the native implementation in the next major release (or maybe before).

Also, I don't think that the problem with Request.JSON in Firefox 3.1b3 can be related to this and I guess it is a regression in Firefox. Feel free to open a new ticket with a testcase if you think the final release of Firefox 3.5 will have this problem (we don't support beta browsers) due to a bug in MooTools. If it is really a regression in Firefox please open a bug ticket on the Firefox bugtracker :)
