IE7 & Element.adopt() bug

Reported by moshe.ravid (at gmail) | March 5th, 2009 @ 10:18 AM | in 2.0 (closed)

The following scenario always fails in IE7, but works perfectly fine in FireFox 3, Chome, Safari 3 and Opera:

var tbl = new Element('table'); var tr = new Element('tr'); var td = new Element('td'); var btn = new Element('input', {

'type': 'button',
'value': 'hello'

});

td.adopt(btn); tr.adopt(td); tbl.adopt(tr); div.adopt(tbl);

after this code segment run, you should see a button with "hello" text inside. IE7 shows nothing, while other browsers (mentioned above) shows the button correctly.

if i wouldn't nest the button element within a table element (for example directly into the div) it would work fine. So it seems that adopt() fails in IE7 with everything related to tables.

it might happen as well in IE6, but i didn't test it.
