Swiff flashVars bug in XHTML +solution

Reported by Carlos Quesada | October 5th, 2009 @ 07:28 PM | in 1.3.0 rc2 (closed)

On line 3113 of the core (not compressed) the flashvars need to be escaped in order to work in xhtml as well as html.
Example attached page.xhtml doesn't work, page2.xhtml calls modified core file, and works. Tested in FF3.5 and IE8.

    Correction: not all should be escaped.
    It seems that Hash.toQueryString(vars) returns the vars joint by '&', but in XHTML this should be '&' to avoid an error in the object.

    I solved it at the flashVars line:
    params.flashVars = Hash.toQueryString(vars).split('&').join('&');

    A more universal solution would require a different use of the Hash which I'm not too familiar with.

    I'm afraid I have to put this issue on hold as I am unsure whether we will be supporting Swiff in future releases. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

    I for one hope Swiff will see continued support! SWFObject and the like just aren't as nice to work with...

    Interestingly, this doesn't appear to be an issue unless you use the Content-Type application/xhtml+xml. When serving valid XHTML 1.0 Strict as text/html it works fine.
