Invalid value for property 'opacity' when using Element.fade()

Reported by Yaroslav | January 6th, 2010 @ 12:35 AM | in 2.0 (closed)

I have several elements on page that do fade('in') on mouseenter and fade('out') on mouseleave. When I move mouse fast across them I occasionally receive the following CSS errors:

In Firefox 3.5:
Warning: Error in parsing value for 'opacity'. Declaration dropped.

In Opera 10:
Invalid value for property: opacity

It looks like the script calculates really small values for the opacity, so they start using exponential form when converted to strings. These should be rounded to zero I believe.

Would you be able to provide a demo of the issue in mooshell?

    Here it is:

Not every click leads to the error, but it happens quite often. Might need to adjust delay. It might depend on speed of your PC.

See it in Firefox or Opera error console.

I can see from your description that this is a possibility - but am going to mark as resolved. I could not reproduce but I can see that speed of PC could also have an effect.

Reasons for this are twofold; one reason is that 2.0 will have a completely new animation system which should resolve this issue; two is that even if it were to throw an error using 1.2 / 1.3 it should not break the animation; as in, the animation will still continue to function.

I hope this answer is acceptable. If the above error does break your animations, please comment and we'll see if we can patch 1.3.

So in short - resolved in 2.0.
